Reverse singing game
Host a reverse-singing guessing game: reverse a melody in the browser, players sing or listen, others name the song. Upload a file or record 60s.

Up to 60 seconds
A reverse singing game is a party round: the room hears a melody backwards, then guesses the song—or someone must sing the backwards line live. This page is the prep tool, not a hosted quiz with avatars and a leaderboard. You reverse the clip in the browser, play it, and you keep score on paper or in a call chat.
If you wanted a packaged web game with thousands of tracks, that would be a different product (and a licensing headache). Reverse audio game covers guessing from reversed recordings in general. This page is specifically the singing variant: melody, pitch, and optional live vocal.
Host setup
One-host, many listeners. Open this tab on a laptop attached to speakers. Headphones are for prep only; the room needs to hear the reversed playback.
Prep before guests arrive. Export 8–12 hooks as separate files (your own singing, a licensed karaoke minus-one, or a short original). Reverse each one here, download WAV, name them 01.wav, 02.wav. During the party you can play the WAVs from the folder so you are not reversing live while people talk. Live reverse is fine for improvised rounds: record a guest humming for 60 seconds, reverse, play.
Screen share. On a video call, share the browser tab and press Play. Hide the filename in the tab title if it spoils the answer. Toggle Normal only at reveal.
Do not expect this site to shuffle a playlist or to mute the original filename in the player UI beyond what the browser shows. Strip metadata in an editor if you are paranoid about title tags in the file.
Two ways to play
Listen and name. Play reversed audio. First person to name the song (or the singer) scores. Hard mode: name the album. This is the same structure as other reverse-audio quizzes, but you should pick sung melody rather than speech or SFX.
Sing the reverse. One player hears the reversed clip on headphones, must sing what they hear (backwards vowels), the others guess from that live performance. Then reveal the WAV in Normal. This is louder, funnier, and needs a dry room. The headphone player should not see lyrics.
A third variant: everyone records themselves singing the reversed clip using the Record button (60 seconds), you reverse those takes, and the group votes whose forward reconstruction is closest. That is slow. Use it with four people, not twenty.
Practice for the singing variant lives on reverse singing website. Do not treat that page as karaoke with a catalog; there is none.
Choosing clips that work backwards
Works: strong, stepwise melodies; nursery tunes; well-known choruses with a clear contour; a cappella lines.
Fails: spoken rap with no pitch, mixes where drums bury the vocal, songs people only know as a lyric meme (they will guess from a reversed word, which is a different game—see reverse word generator audio).
Keep clips short. After reverse, intros with long pads become confusing swells. Start the source file on the first sung note when you bounce.
If you record the host singing the hook instead of using a commercial mix, you avoid a lot of copyright heat for a private party, and the melody is still guessable. Use reverse audio recorder or the mic on this page. Mic choice and permissions: reverse audio microphone.
Technical limits during a party
- One file at a time in the editor. Pre-render WAVs if you need a tight show.
- Formats: MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A, AAC in; WAV out.
- Local processing: guests’ guesses are not uploaded because nothing is uploaded.
- Speed preview: 0.75× helps the host learn a clip while prepping; do not leave slow-preview on during the round unless that is a handicap. Speed is not in the download.
- Time reverse, not polarity invert, not autotune.
Bluetooth speakers add latency. The host should press Play and wait; do not talk over the first 500 ms.
Scoring and house rules
Write the rules on a note before round one: skip allowed or not, humming allowed or not, “I don’t know the name but I can sing the next line” half points, phones away so nobody Shazams the forward version after a leak.
Shazam on a reversed clip usually fails. That is fine. If a guest records the reverse and runs a forward ID after you accidentally toggled Normal, that round is void.
Public streams (Twitch, TikTok Live): playing reversed commercial recordings can still get muted. Use original vocals. Reverse audio for TikTok is about files, not a license.
After the party
You will have a folder of reversed WAVs. Two reverses restore the forward take with edge fades (unreverse audio). Delete clips you do not have a right to keep.
There is no replay account on this site. The game exists only in the room you ran.
Frequently asked questions
Is this an automated multiplayer game?
No. There is no lobby, no scoring backend, and no licensed song pack. You reverse clips here and run the round in a room or a call.
How do I run one round?
Pick a short melody, reverse it, play it to the group without showing the title, let them guess or try to sing it. Reveal by toggling Normal.
Can I use chart hits?
For a private living room, many hosts still use well-known hooks. A public stream is a copyright problem. Prefer original or licensed clips.
How long should each clip be?
Five to fifteen seconds of melody. The 60-second mic cap is more than enough. Long choruses bore the room and leak the answer.
Do players need accounts?
No. Only the host needs this page. Players listen to speakers or to a screen-share of the tab.
Can I batch twenty songs?
Not as a queue. Reverse one file at a time, save WAVs named by round number, play them from a folder. See reverse audio batch.
