Reverse audio batch

Batch reverse—flip an entire folder of takes in one click—is a reasonable studio request. This website does not do it. You load one file, reverse it, download one WAV, then you may load the next. There is no queue, no “select multiple,” no watch folder, and no zip job.

This page exists so that search does not imply a feature. If you have 200 foley shots, plan an offline batch. If you have three voice notes, repeating the upload is faster than installing a DAW.

What “one at a time” means in practice

The editor holds a single AudioBuffer. Loading file B replaces file A. If you did not download A’s reversed WAV, it is gone unless the browser cached a download you already triggered.

There is no list of completed jobs. Name your outputs on disk (shot12_rev.wav) as you go. The site will not number them.

Formats per file are still MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A, AAC. Mixed folders are fine as a human process: you pick each file. The page will not skip unreadable items in a directory because it never sees the directory.

The microphone is also one 60-second take, not a batch of takes. Stop, download or re-record, repeat.

RAM: a 30-minute FLAC is one large buffer. Do not expect to line up five of those “in the background.” Close other tabs if Chrome complains. FLAC reverser and WAV are the same engine with format notes.

Honest offline batch options

DAW. Import a folder, select all clips, reverse (Pro Tools, Reaper, Audition, Logic all have a reverse). Bounce or consolidate. This is the right tool for a session. How to reverse audio on PC and on Mac cover interactive reverse, not only this site.

SoX or FFmpeg. Command-line reverse on a glob of files. You run that on your machine; this site does not host a shell. Output format is your choice; this website would have given WAV per file if you had clicked 200 times.

Audio editors with batch processors. Adobe Audition batch, Izotope, etc. A reverse plugin or process can be the first step in a chain (then limiter, then rename). Reverse audio filter explains why reverse is not an EQ band even when it lives in a plugin list.

None of those methods run on AudioReverser.com’s servers. Local here means one tab; local there means your disk.

Do not paste a folder into a random “online batch reverse” site that asks you to upload a zip to a stranger’s bucket. That is the privacy failure this product avoids by not taking zips.

When repeating uploads is enough

• A handful of WhatsApp notes
• Two song candidates for a swell
• A class set of ten short clues you already exported as separate files

Workflow: keep two Explorer/Finder windows, source on the left, reversed/ on the right. Upload, Play to sanity-check, Download, move on. Sanity-check matters: a mislabeled file reversed is still wrong.

Preview speed is for that sanity check. Do not forget it on 0.5× and think the download is slow; the WAV is original duration, reversed.

Time reverse, not polarity. A batch polarity invert is a different DAW command; do not mix the two in a folder of “fixed” files.

Quality in a large set

Source quality still caps the result (high-quality reverse). Batching a directory of 64 kbps MP3s produces a directory of reversed-sounding 64 kbps material in WAV wrappers.

Edge fades on each file: round-tripping a whole folder through reverse twice will nibble every file’s edges. Keep originals.

Why the product stays single-file

A true in-browser folder reverse would need directory API permissions, a job list, collision-safe names, and a way not to freeze the tab. That is an app. This is a page. Until that app exists from this project—it does not—use sequential uploads or a DAW.

Naming and checking a manual batch

Use a spreadsheet or a text list: source path → dest path → heard OK. After twenty files, memory fails. Play at least the first second of each reversed WAV; a silent decode error is cheaper to catch now than in a session.

Do not recycle download.wav twenty times in the same folder. Browsers increment (1), (2) and you will lose track. Move and rename immediately.

Two people splitting a folder (one does 1–50, one does 51–100) is a valid “batch.” It is still this page, twice. Agree on sample-rate expectations first; mixed 44.1 and 48 is fine per file but messy in one sampler.

What not to automate against this website

Do not write a Selenium script that uploads to this origin in a loop. That is fragile, against the spirit of a single-file tool, and a waste compared with SoX. The honest limitation is here so you pick the right software, not so you attack the file picker.
