How to reverse audio for Telegram
Export a Telegram voice message on desktop or mobile, reverse it in the browser, and send the WAV back. Local processing, no Telegram login.

Telegram voice messages are easy to play and awkward to edit. There is no reverse button in the bubble. The workable path is: save the file on desktop or phone, reverse it in this browser tab, download a WAV, and send that file back into the chat.
This page never logs into Telegram. A t.me or tg:// link will not resolve here. If you only have a message ID and no file, use Telegram’s own save controls first.
Desktop export (Windows, macOS, Linux)
Telegram Desktop is the least painful export.
- Open the chat that contains the voice message.
- Hover the bubble. Use Save as / Download (wording depends on the client: official Desktop, Telegram for macOS, or a fork).
- Pick a folder you can find again. Note the extension:
.oggis common for voice; music you forwarded may already be.mp3. - In this tab, upload that file.
- Play the reversed preview. Confirm it is time-reversed (last syllable first), not a robotic pitch shift.
- Download the WAV and drag it into the Telegram compose box, or use the paperclip and choose the WAV.
Saved Messages is a useful staging chat: save the original there, reverse here, send the WAV to Saved Messages, then forward. That keeps experiments out of a group until you like the result.
If Desktop plays the voice note but greys out save, the sender may have restricted saving, or you are in a view that only streams. Try the official desktop client rather than the in-browser Telegram Web, which is less consistent about downloads. Telegram Web can still work: look for the download arrow on the message.
Large files: Telegram allows bigger attachments than WhatsApp. This reverse page still decodes in memory. A 20-minute lecture will be slow and may exhaust a low-RAM laptop. Crop in a desktop editor first, or reverse only the section you need.
Mobile export
Android: tap-and-hold the voice message → Share or Save to Downloads / Files. Some skins put “Save to music” in a three-dot menu. Once the OGG or MP3 is in Files, open this site in Chrome, upload, reverse, download WAV, then attach in Telegram with the paperclip. If the share sheet only offers “Send to…” other apps and not Files, share to Drive or to yourself in another chat, then download.
iPhone: tap the message, Share, Save to Files (On My iPhone or iCloud Drive). Safari can then upload from Files. Chrome on iOS uses the same picker. After reverse, the WAV lands in Downloads; attach it in Telegram. iOS may present Telegram’s own “Save to camera roll” for round videos; that path is video, not this tool. For picture-plus-sound, extract audio on a computer or use an editor, then reverse the soundtrack; see video audio reverser.
Telegram X and other clients: menus differ. The requirement is the same: a file on disk. If the client refuses to export, switch to official Telegram for the save step.
Mobile browsers still cap the on-page microphone at 60 seconds. That button is for a new reversed reply you perform live, not for capturing a Telegram bubble by holding the phone to the speaker. Speaker-to-mic copies add room noise; export the file instead.
Formats you will actually see
- Voice messages: OGG containing Opus. The OGG reverser notes apply. If the file has no extension after a share, add
.ogg. - Music tracks sent as audio: often MP3. Same reverse engine.
- Files sent as documents: whatever the sender attached, including WAV and FLAC. Prefer those when quality matters; see high-quality reverse.
- iOS Voice Memos forwarded into Telegram: often M4A. Reverse M4A.
The download from this page is always WAV. Telegram will send WAV as a file. Recipients can play it in many clients. If someone on an old device cannot play WAV, they can still download it and open a player, or you can encode MP3 after the reverse (not on this page).
Desktop versus mobile: which to use
Use desktop when the voice message is long, when you need to rename files, or when you will drop the WAV into a DAW after Telegram. Use mobile when the note only exists on the phone and you need a reply in the next minute.
Do not record the phone speaker with the laptop mic “because export is hard.” That path destroys Opus’s remaining quality and picks up keyboard noise. Spend the extra minute on Save as.
Privacy
Telegram messages can be more sensitive than a public channel post. Local reverse means the samples are not uploaded to this site. Secret Chats that disallow forwarding may also disallow save; this page cannot override that. If you cannot export, you cannot reverse here.
After download, the WAV is a copy you control. Deleting the Telegram message does not delete the WAV. Handle it like any other export.

After reverse: sending and restoring
Attach with the paperclip rather than the in-app mic. The in-app mic would re-record the laptop speakers and undo the point of a clean reverse.
To hear the original direction again without leaving this tab, use Normal mode. To restore a file you already saved as reversed, upload that WAV and reverse once more (unreverse). Edge fades mean the round trip is not a forensic original, but speech is intelligible.
For the same job in WhatsApp, see reverse audio for WhatsApp. For Discord upload limits, see reverse audio Discord.
Frequently asked questions
Does Telegram have reverse playback?
No built-in reverse. Save the voice message, reverse it here, then attach the WAV in the same chat or a new one.
Desktop or phone: which export is easier?
Desktop. Right-click or use Save as on the bubble. Mobile requires a share sheet and a Files app step that varies by OS.
What container does Telegram use?
Voice messages are often OGG/Opus. Saved media from a round video or a music track may be MP3 or M4A. Upload whichever file you actually got.
Can I paste a t.me link into this tool?
No. The page does not call Telegram’s API. You must have the audio file on disk.
Will Secret Chat messages export?
Only if Telegram lets you save that specific message. This site cannot bypass Secret Chat restrictions.
How long can I record a reply here?
Sixty seconds per microphone take. Longer replies should be recorded in Telegram or another app, exported, then uploaded.
