Reverse audio for Discord

Discord will play whatever audio file the upload filter accepts. It will not time-reverse a message for you. The sequence is: get a file onto disk, reverse it in this tab, then attach the result in a DM, a channel, or a forum post.

This site does not use a Discord bot, does not join your server, and does not read cdn.discordapp.com URLs. If someone dropped a clip in chat, use Discord’s download on that attachment first.

Nitro and upload size

Free accounts have a small attachment ceiling. WAV from this page is uncompressed PCM. A one-minute stereo 48 kHz WAV is already several megabytes. That is why a reversed meme that played fine as an 80 kbps MP3 may fail to send after reverse-and-download.

Practical options, in order:

1. Reverse here, keep the WAV if it fits under your cap (Nitro users often succeed).
2. If the WAV is too large, encode MP3 or Opus in another tool, then upload that. You lose a generation; that is Discord’s size rule, not a defect in the reverse.
3. Shorten the source before reverse: crop the joke to the line you need. Discord listeners rarely need the full song.
4. Boost / Nitro raises the limit. Buying Nitro does not add a reverse feature inside Discord; it only makes the WAV more likely to send.

Clip length in Discord’s mobile clip recorder and in Go Live is a separate product. Those recorders are not connected to this page. Export their output if you can, or record a 60-second take with the microphone control here for a new line.

Stage channels and voice chat: audio in a live voice channel cannot be reversed in real time by this website. You would record a take (Discord’s own clip, an OS loopback, or this page’s mic), reverse the file, then play it back as an attachment or through a local player into the mic—which sounds bad and is rude in most servers. Prefer attachments.

WAV versus MP3 on Discord

WAV: best match to what you heard in the reverse preview, larger, sometimes flagged as a “file” rather than an inline player depending on client and filename.

MP3: smaller, plays inline more often, extra generation loss on top of whatever the source already had. If the source was already MP3, reverse still outputs WAV; compressing again is your choice for the upload.

OGG/Opus: Discord is comfortable with Opus in voice, but attachment behavior varies. WAV or MP3 is the boring path that works.

Filename: Discord cares less than Windows about the name, but clip_reverse.wav is easier for mods than download.wav. This page does not rename for you.

Getting the source file

• Attachment in chat: click to open, download.
• YouTube or TikTok meme: this page will not pull those URLs. Save audio you are allowed to use, then upload. See YouTube audio reverser and reverse audio for TikTok.
• Your own voice: record up to 60 seconds here, or export from a recorder. Voice reverser is the same engine with speech notes.
• Soundboard: Discord soundboard clips are short. If you can export the asset the server uses, reverse it here and re-add it in server settings if you have permission. Many soundboard items cannot be downloaded from the client; use the original file the admin uploaded.

Do not paste a bot command that claims to reverse a message unless you trust that bot with the file. This website is not that bot.

Quality and loudness

Discord playback includes its own normalization and a harsh limiter on some clients. A reversed cymbal swell that peaked fine in this tab may pump on Discord. That is the client. Leave headroom if you still have a DAW; this reverse page does not offer a limiter or loudness match.

Source quality sets the ceiling. A 24 kbps voice-message rip will still be a 24 kbps-sounding reverse after you wrap it in WAV. WAV is a container, not a rescue. Details: reverse audio high quality.

Time reverse is not polarity invert. If two Discord clips cancel when both play, that is a mix/phase issue for a DAW, not this editor. Phase invert audio online explains the difference.

Speed preview on this page does not write into the WAV. A “chipmunk reverse” for a meme needs a speed change in another app after download, or a DAW reverse plugin with rate.

Privacy and server rules

Local processing means the joke file is not stored on AudioReverser.com. Once you attach it in Discord, Discord’s retention, search, and Trust & Safety rules apply. Reversing a private VC recording and posting it in a public channel can still be a leak.
